Rebecca and Pontiano are married and both 38 years old. They come from Uganda and live their everyday life in Uganda, where they are working together with Africa In Touch.
The beginning of Africa In Touch
15 years ago, they had a couple from Denmark, Dan and Birgitte, visiting them. At the time Dan and Birgitte spend in Uganda they started a farming-project together with Rebecca and Pontiano, which was reaching out to poor people. When Dan and Birgitte got back to Denmark they started Africa In Touch, and asked Rebecca and Pontiano to be their partners. Rebecca and Pontiano were both teachers, and one of the purposes with Africa In Touch was to develop schools. Since then they have been good friends and done a lot of good work together.

Helping other people
According to Rebecca and Pontiano it does take courage to help other people, but then again not really. “We are lucky that we have the same heart. It is born within us that we want to help the other.” says Pontiano with a smile. But sometimes the service can make you cry, therefor it takes courage to keep on helping, and doing what you can. It takes heart to help other people. When you help other people, God pays you back. The heart of service can bring you all the good you can desire in this world.
Volunteers in the World
Rebecca and Pontiano have had volunteers living with them for 14 years. The volunteers live in their own apartment, but they meet up often. Kristina Eskildsen has lived with them, and she explains that it is very nice to have some people, you know you can ask if you have any questions. Pontiano tells that they will give the volunteers all the help they will ever need. They don’t think it takes a lot of courage to open your home to strangers because they have had 0 problems, and they found out that young people want to help others. Just like Kristina, 54 out of 72 people at Frøstruphave Efterskole wants to go out in the world as a volunteer, and like Rebecca and Pontiano said: “Together we can make a difference.”
